Chuckling, she remarks that he wants to come out. The Queen is seen again with her abdomen area has increasingly expanded, while the unborn King develops a more humanesque shape. As most of the Squadron Leaders are taken out by unknown forces Peggy ponders on whether they should inform the Queen of the situation, this is ruled out by Colt as he fears hearing such news would make her anxious. The following day she names Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi. Her appetite becomes so ravenous that she consumes 250 human meatballs a day, while her abdomen becomes enormously round and she feels the unborn King kick. īy the time Hagya's Squad ambushes Kite, Gon, and Killua, the first one is born and she names them Neferpitou. Their request gives her the idea of naming the gestating Royal Guards herself. Thinking they are a strange bunch, the Queen pays no mind to it, figuring it is due to them having human blood within then and thinks she may have some in her as well for finding it intriguing. One of the Squadron Leaders suggests they increase their security around the nest and inquires if they can all have names, to which she agrees. Soon after birthing a large amount of Squadron Leaders she summons them to her chambers and informs them that she will focus her time getting ready for the birth of the King. She births more and more powerful soldiers led by Colt while also spawning construction ants to build her a nest. ĭue to NGL being a neo-Luddite nation forbidding the use of modern technology within its borders, news of the giant Chimera Ant infestation is slow to reach the outside world. By chance, one of the soldier ants gathers two human children and feeds them to the Queen she finds this food more delicious and nutritious than prior prey and subsequently orders her soldiers to concentrate on gathering humans. Driven by her reproductive instincts, the Queen immediately begins to feed on small mammals and aquatic life in order to heal and give birth to soldier Ants, which she uses to gather larger prey in greater amounts. Her severed arm is carried by the currents far north. The Chimera Ant Queen washes up injured on the shores of the Neo-Green Life Autonomous Region, a small insular nation located on an island known as the Mitene Union. How the Chimera Ant Queen ended up drifting in the oceans of the archipelago inhabited by humans and how she was injured is unknown. She speculated that she bore human genetic material, yet whether this is true or not and how this would have come to be is unknown. However, the revelation that she did not originate in the ' Known World' could provide an alternative, more accurate explanation to her size. Since Chimera Ant queens usually measure up to 10 centimeters in size, the Queen is believed to have undergone a mutation that caused her to increase in size. She was so fascinated with the concept of names that she chose those of the Royal Guards and the King himself. By her own admission, her interest in the growing individualism of her soldiers made her unusual compared to other members of her species, which she attributed to human ancestry. Even as she was dying because of him, her only concerns were whether he was born healthy. The Chimera Ant Queen was completely dedicated to her goal of giving birth to a King, such that she focused on it solely, and desired for him to stand at the top of all life.

#REDDIT THE SINKING CITY UPGRADE# #REDDIT THE SINKING CITY SERIES# Additional quests - part of the Merciful Madness DLC (included in Deluxe Edition, or as a separate purchase)Ī platform upgrade for the game from the Xbox One version is, however, not possible at the moment, according to Frogwares. #REDDIT THE SINKING CITY SERIES# It features multiple enhancements and improvements that utilize the console’s power and functionalities.įrogwares has confirmed the following improvements and features for the Xbox Series X/S version: To see this content please enable targeting cookies. The HP Lovecraft-inspired, investigation horror game The Sinking City is now available on the Xbox Store. It is however a much better and massively improved delight on the eyes all around.Frogwares have released the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S enhanced version of The Sinking City. It’s all presented in 4K (3840×2160) resolution and it looks great, even though some interior locations feel like they are reusing the same assets too many times. Visually, The Sinking City has improved with this next-gen move too, now with a greater level of graphic detail throughout from the character models, through to the lighting and the detail in the weather. The biggest change however is in the loading times – these are now super fast and there isn’t any interruption when traversing the open world. Even the city feels more alive and fewer residents get stuck in their loops. In fact, the whole movement of the game feels more interesting now, all while being less glitchy. It’s not the main focus of the game, and I still try to avoid conflict rather than engage, but when it happens it doesn’t now feel like a drag. You see, the combat initially felt clunky and misfired, but now with the new 60 frames per second framerate, it works much better and feels more free-flowing. The new power that Xbox Series X brings has improved The Sinking City tenfold since last time out. Ammo is scarce, and bullets are even used as currency, so you have to be careful and considerate with each shot. Yes, you can melee attack and you have access to several weapons – different revolvers, shotguns or machine guns – but you will need to plan your attacks carefully because it is – as the game warns – very tricky indeed. This is a strange one because the game urges you to run away from conflict rather than to fight to the death. However, in terms of combat and things are different. For me, I will never get bored of going through these inquiries. This side of The Sinking City is brilliant, borrowing well from the Sherlock Holmes games. For example, at one point you will take in four scenes of a fight breaking out in a fisherman’s house, and it’s up to you to try and put the sequence of events together in a linear order.Įach clue that you gather moves into your casebook or mindscape, leaving you to match these clues up with each other in order to stumble upon the desired result and outcome of the investigation. But you can also follow several past event scenes, gathering up information and snippets of what happened in an incident there. You might see a glimpse of a scene showing past events connecting to an object you find. You might see the ghost of the person you are tracking, allowing you to follow their movements to find out where they went. Here the world changes to a different reality, whereby you see omens of where to go or hidden clues unseen in the real world. There is also the opportunity to explore the scene through your mind’s eye. You arrive at an investigative location you will explore, look for clues through objects in the crime scenes and take in the pieces of evidence left on the floor or walls, with secrets discovered by rotating objects and revealing a sweet spot to find the information. Throughout The Sinking City, you’ll find yourself spending time chatting to people which opens up dialogue options and provides hints about where to go next on your investigation. You’ve arrived fresh off the boat and straight into a murder investigation that leads you into a tale of mystery, the supernatural, and the deep sea… Reed – who is haunted by terrible visions and horrors of World War One. You play a private detective – Charles W. The action takes place in the 1920s, dropping us into the flooded fictional city of Oakmont in Massachusetts. The Sinking City is a third person action-adventure detective game, made by those who created the excellent Sherlock Holmes series of games over recent years. Now though Frogwares have released the game on Xbox Series X|S, giving us the chance to go back and take things in once again, just this time having the chance to enjoy some improvements. But it suffered from some jerky framerates, long loading times in between the open-world sections, and a general lack of smoothness throughout. When The Sinking City was first released in 2019, the game was applauded for its detective storytelling and narrative roots that took us through the Lovecraft universe.
